These apple roses are absolutely stunning and just as delicious. They are worth the work that goes into them if you have the patience. I think my first time preparing these took several hours for less than a dozen. It has been a while since I made these but the original recipe can be found on allrecipes.com. You can make this on a baking sheet but I recommend a muffin pan to help hold the shape.
Ingredients:
- 1 large Apple cored and carefully THINLY sliced
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 sheet Puff Pastry thawed
- 1/4 cup Butter
- 1 Egg
- 2 tsp Water
- 1 tsp Powdered Sugar
- Lemon Juice enough to soak apple slices
Cooking:
1. Preheat oven 400°
2. Butter and dust muffin pan
3. Microwave apple slices for 45 seconds and soak slices in lemon juice. this will keep their color
4. Mix sugar and cinnamon together
5. Roll puff pastry and cut into 3" x 12" and spread butter and sugar mix on top
6. Place apple slices on the dough 1/4" beyond the edge overlapping and carefully fold
7. Paint with egg and more sugar mix
8. Bake for 45 minutes
9. Remove and sprinkle with powdered sugar
10. Enjoy!
