I have a weak spot for french dips. They are warm, tasty and I LOVE food you can dip so it's absolutely perfect for me. How to make a quick, easy french dip became something I had to learn. Thanks to one of my favorite recipe website allrecipes.com, I had a great starting point.
Having a toaster oven made this process very quick and easy, if you don't have a toaster oven, preheat your regular oven to 350° to toast the buns and cheese.
Ingredients: (for 4 sandwiches)
- 1 can Beef Consomme 10.5 ounces
- 1 cup Water
- 1 pound Deli Roast Beef thinly sliced
- 8 sliced Provolone Swiss and Pepper-jack are also great choices
- 4 Hoagie Rolls split lengthwise
- 1 Onion
- Horseradish or Hot sauce for spice optional
Cooking:
1. Heat beef consomme and water in a saucepan over medium to make the beef broth
2. Saute the onions you can also saute mushrooms at this point if you would like them
3. Add the roast beef into the beef broth for ~ 3 minutes until warm
4. Top each hoagie roll half with a slice of cheese and toast until the cheese is melted
5. Top the toasted buns with the roast beef and onions and mushrooms is desired
6. Add horseradish or hot sauce if desired for a little kick I like Tabasco with my french dips
7. Serve with a small bowl of the warm broth for dipping
8. Enjoy!
